Here are some of the fundraising activities that individuals and groups have conducted for the benefit of the Richmond Food Bank:
Silent and live auctions
Scavenger hunts
Matching employer donations
Monthly donations
Richmond Public Library’s Food for Fines – donation in lieu of overdue fines
School pyjama challenge – if the students make their food-raising goal (in lbs or dollars), the teachers must wear pyjamas to school the following day
A Scouter’s challenge – a Scouter promises to wear his uniform to the firm’s annual party if his colleagues make the fundraising goal he set for them
Structures made of tins and packages – schools, financial institutions, Richmond Public Library, etc. have collected food items and/or solicited food donations from local producers to build theme structures – derived from the successful CANstruction project
50/50 raffle
Food or money donations required for entry/participation in tournaments, concerts, movies
Donation required to participate in casual day/jeans day at the office
Caroling for donations
Services for donations (cleaning, carwashes, dog walking, garden work, cold drinks)
Save returnable beverage containers to be cashed in
In lieu of gifts for parties, open house, in honour, in memory
Email greetings to colleagues and donation to foodbank in lieu of Christmas cards
