As a charity registered with the Canada Revenue Agency, The Richmond Food Bank Society must comply with the Income Tax Act.

We issue a tax receipt for monetary donations of $20 or more and may issue a tax receipt for the fair market value of non-monetary donations, as long as:

• the product is something that we would otherwise buy
• the best-by date is such that there is enough time to distribute and consume the product
• approval is received in advance

Tax receipts for non-monetary donations are intended for bulk donations.
