Most of the food we distribute has been donated by individuals and organizations, including growers, producers, wholesalers, and retail stores. Also, we enjoy the strength of bulk buying and charitable discounts, and most of our work is done by our 125 volunteers. At the end of each year, when we compare our total costs for occupancy, vehicles, wages, food, supplies, etc with the value of the food we give directly to individuals who come to the food bank and to organizations that serve low-income people (shelters, community meals), we find that we delivered $6 value in food for every dollar that we have spent. Our hope is that we will be able to maintain that ratio despite rising costs.
